Breath of Fresh... tuesdays

Even though the temperatures have not fallen considerably, it was enough to celebrate the coming autumn this Tuesday! From wardrobe to scent to sounds we welcomed the fall all day long.  Ahhh... it's such a fresh and renewing time of year.

We donned our fall colors...

Dined on seasonal cuisine...

And filled the air with harvest's aroma...

That's not it! There is one more element every autumn lover must have.  The quintessential sound of fall, in my humble opinion, is the Little Women soundtrack (by Thomas Newman).  Just turn it on, take a breath, and unwind.

Oh, it was such a lovely day.  There is something so peaceful and delightful about the fall season.

So, why not take a moment to make a moment to remember this season.

Why Tuesday?
Tuesday is really the day of the week that is not branded. Sunday: last day of the weekend or Holy day, Monday: beginning of the week, Wednesday: mid-week, Thursday: end of the week for some and weekend eve for others, Friday: T.G.I.F. Saturday: THE weekend. That leaves Tuesdays... hmmm. That LEAVES Tuesdays!!!! What could Tuesday be? Oh the possibilities! Tuesday could become the "try a new coffee flavor" day, "comfy shoe" day, "no negative thoughts" day, "warm smile" day, or even "gaze at the stars" day. With so many options there really is no reason to settle on one! Let's just call Tuesdays "take a moment" day.

So, get inspired and take a moment today. After all, it's Tuesday!

Breath of Fresh... Γεύση (Flavor)

Have you ever tried Greek food? Oh man... you must!

Oh how the taste buds do tingle! You simply must partake in a Greek feast.
The flavors are savory, robust and satisfying.
Yes, I just used multiple adjectives to describe the deliciousness!  It's just that good.

BAKED FETA
LOUKANIKO

The options are endless, but here are a few to choose from:
(How do you pronounce them? I have to say... I have no idea! Do what I do, and when the waiter comes just point at the menu!)

Hummus- chickpea and garlic dip usually served with pita wedges.
HUMMUS

Baked Feta- Feta cheese baked golden brown in a tomato sauce.
Spanakopita- pastry with spinach & feta cheese
Tiropita- pastry with feta cheese & herbs
Traditional beef & Lamb or Chicken Gyro
Moussaka- traditional Greek casserole with layers of potatoes, eggplant, seasoned ground beef, cheese & béchamel sauce
Cretan style - Seafood Clay pot- shrimp, mussels, tilapia, potatoes and seasonal vegetables simmered in a clay pot with wine,
garlic & herbs served with grilled olive bread
Loukaniko- homemade Greek sausage with grilled beefsteak tomato & crumbled feta.

Mmm... mmm...mmm! Oh, and don't forget the delectable Tzatziki sauce! It is a Greek yogurt combined with cucumbers and lemon.  It goes great with almost anything mentioned above.  Delish!!!

απολαύστε!!

Breath of Fresh... moments

Full calendars and not enough time in the day... it just gets old! We need a moment every once in a while to unwind.  One particular moment that I speak of is a night out with friends.
Ahhh... there is just nothing like assembling the gang and taking a night off.

You don't need a special occasion to celebrate.  Just celebrate each other and the beautiful fact that your life is enriched by the other!

Is there a new restaurant you want to try, or an old one you never did? Maybe you just feel like fading into a quaint coffee shop, or indulging in something sweet.  Well, why not call up a familiar face and take a moment away from it all?

Breath of Fresh... indulgence

You know... sometimes you just want to indulge.
Well, here is one to try!

Fried Oreos.

Yes, you read it right!
The "deep fried" zone is a bottomless pit of possibilities... evidently.

Even though I try not to indulge too much this one peeked my interest and I had to taste it.

Oh, it was a fried Oreo all right! It was the taste of the real thing with a layer of richness added to it.  As you could see they gave us five.  Thank goodness I had others to share them with!
Final assessment:
If you love Oreos it might be a disappointment.
The cookie you adore may be masked a bit by the dough and powdered sugar.
If you love fried desserts, especially chocolate ones, I suggest you find a place that sells them A.S.A.P.!

This is one indulgence I won't crave, but it was fun to try!
